Trailer tires are used for utility, recreational vehicles, and boats. These wheels may be smaller and thinner than a car or truck tire, but they must also be of good quality, durable, and strong.

The trailer's use and certain key elements determines the style of  tires. Consider the tire type: most trailer tires are either Bias Ply or Radial. Bias Ply tires have stronger sidewalls that reduces sway problems when driving and makes for safer towing. Radial tires have ply cords that extend to the beads and different tread marking that allow for better handling on the road.

There are two tire application types: Special Trailer (S) and Passenger Car (P). Only use the type of application that is specific for the trailer. The size of the  tire is determined by the percentage of section height by section width. This is also referred to as the 'Aspect Ratio'. The tire must also be equivalent to the rim size. Also, it is very important to get the right trailer tires that have the right load range, which is the load carrying capacity and air pressure rating. If a trailer is going to be carrying heavy loads, for example a boat, the tires must have a high load carrying capacity.

Once a trailer owner  knows the above settings and sizes, he or she can choose from many styles and brands of tires. There are variations on these styles offering different tread markings, colors, and materials. Both styles can be purchased as used or discount trailer tires. Cheap trailer tires are also available. Trailers that are not used on a regular basis may use a less expensive type of tire.

Goodyear has tires for all things that need to go. They offer all styles of trailer tires at reasonable prices. Goodyear tires have a series of Marathon tires that are designed to make trailer towing easier, more stable, and more economical. These make great boat trailer tires. Marathon tires also come in sizes for travel trailers, pop-up campers, and fifth wheelers. Goodyear strives for quality and long lasting wear.

Carlisle trailer tires offer six different categories to choose from including extra grip, USA trail, and sport trail. Under the sport category there are over fifteen options. Carlisle makes great boat, camper, towing, and fifth wheel tires. All Carlisle tires are hard wearing and high quality. They also manufacture a variety of highway approved trailer wheels.

Other popular tire brands include Titan and Eastern Marine. Titan trailer tires provide excellent shock absorption. These tires were built to handle heavy loads and the tread is long lasting. Eastern Marine carries a full line of nylon bias ply trailer tires. These 'Special Trailer' (ST) tires have been made to better handle high speeds. They are very durable and bruise resistant with heavy loads.

A lot is depending on trailer tires. Only the best tires for a trailer will ensure a great trip. Finding the right trailer tires can make the all difference between being stranded on the side of the road and enjoying a pleasant ride.
